We design

DEVELOPING THE NEXT GENERATION OF BIKES

GERMAN ENGINEERING AND DESIGN

Our young and enthusiastic Research & Development (R&D) team lives and breathes bikes, even when they're not on one. Developing a bike is a true team effort where many individuals use their specific skills to achieve a collective end result. From the initial conceptual planning, through the first ride on a prototype, to extensive testing. Then the implementation of colors and design into the project, ultimately refining the pre-production model to the final result: the bike that stands at your local Merida dealer’s shop.

We test

A KEY ELEMENT OF OUR DEVELOPMENT PROCESS – FAR BEYOND THE INDUSTRY STANDARDS

BETTER SAFE THAN SORRY

Testing, re-testing and testing again are crucial to our game. We are doing everything we can to provide our customers with the most refined and secure product possible. Our in-house testing facilities push our products beyond the industry standards and allow us to develop products that deliver safe and reliable performance for their entire lifespan. As well as meeting and exceeding EN standards, our bikes are tested to even higher standards at an industry-leading German test institute. That means we can ensure our bikes will deal with whatever the end user can throw it them; withstanding even the most demanding trail, the steepest climb, the heaviest load or the daily gruelling chore.

BUILDING BICYCLES SINCE 1972

For over 50 years, we have been building our bikes by hand in our own factory in Taiwan. The strong connection between our highly skilled R&D team, based in one of the design and product development hotspots in Germany, and our hugely experienced engineers, production and assembly teams in our HQ in Yuanlin enables us to control the entire production process, from initial design concept to the finished product. This unique position, along with our constant strive to improve our products, allows us to produce some of the most sophisticated bicycles in the world.
